Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.Ronald R. Dupuis, Sr., Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council #1422, Marshall, received a call from a lady who wanted to make a donation of children's coats to the recent Coat Drive.
I met her at her Thrift Life store at 2100 E End Blvd N in Marshall, expecting to receive 2 or maybe 3 children's coats. To my surprise she removed 33 really nice coats right off the rack. She asked me: "Do you think that is enough?" I said: "Wow, this is more than enough!" She is truly an Angel of Charity.
This Angel of Charity is Charlotte Smith, wife of Sir Knight, Paul Smith.
